Skip the donut shop and make some delicious donuts at home! With this list of 30 baked donut recipes, you can enjoy a healthier donut baked right in your kitchen.

Baked Donut Recipes You'll Love

If you want to make donuts at home but don’t want to deal with super hot oil and the mess of frying them, baking your donuts is a great option!

They are healthier, cleaner, and safer to make than fried donuts – no need to worry about kids in the kitchen and hot oil splattering everywhere. Plus, they are easy and similar to making muffins.

I’ve come up with a list of 30 baked donut recipes that you are going to love. From the kid favorites of funfetti and sprinkles to the flavors of fruit, chocolate and nuts; it is all in this list.

If you can’t wait any longer, scroll down to check them out. Otherwise, first I have some answers to questions you may have about donuts.

Frequently Asked Questions About Donuts:

Is it donut or doughnut?

The short answer is both. The original word was doughnut and in true American form, we shortened it to donut in the late 19th century.

However, it wasn’t commonly used until Dunkin’ Donuts became popular in the late 20th century. So doughnut is more commonly used outside the United States and donut is more common in the US.

In a recent poll of Americans, the top 5 most popular donut flavors were:

  • Cream-Filled (22%)
  • Plain Glazed (18%)
  • Chocolate Glazed (12%)
  • Cake/Old Fashioned (9%)
  • Jelly-Filled (9%)

Would you believe that 15% of Americans said they don’t have a favorite because they don’t eat donuts? Who are these people?

Are bakery donuts baked or fried?

Fried! That is why they are so good – but not good for you. Frying in oil gives them a crisper consistency but adds a lot of fat and calories.

Do you need a donut pan to bake donuts?

It is really helpful to have a donut pan, but it isn’t necessary. An alternative would be to use a large muffin tin. Just ball up a piece of aluminum foil and put it in the center of each muffin mold to create the hole in the center of the donut.

If you love overnight oatmeal, these chocolate peanut butter overnight oats are delicious and filling! You’ll love this for an easy breakfast, or as a protein filled snack/dessert.

This is easy and quick – meal prep time is about five minutes. You’ll just need time overnight for chilling.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Overnight Oats

I didn’t try overnight oatmeal until recently. Let’s be honest – I was dumb. I thought overnight oats might be soggy and that it just wouldn’t appeal. BOY was I wrong!

You can eat these oats either hot or cold. What I’ve noticed is that overnight oatmeal is typically made hot for breakfast and cold for dessert. People also make them hot in winter, cold in summer. The choice is really up to you. I like them both ways.

You will want to use old fashioned rolled oats for this recipe. Instant oatmeal gets too soggy, and steel-cut oats tend to remain a lot more chewy unless they soak for quite a long time.

If you like chewy, then you might want to go for the steel-cut oats. But for me, old fashioned rolled oats are perfect and have the best consistency, hot or cold!

chocolate peanut butter overnight oats

One thing this recipe has over similar peanut butter recipes is a lower calorie and fat count. The secret is PB2! Have you heard of this magical peanut butter powder?

I order it by the (big) jar and use in to replace regular peanut butter. It has 85% less fat calories than traditional peanut butter, is all natural, and has no additives.

I know I sound like an advertisement but it’s THAT good . . . and when you’re watching your calories, it’s perfect for that peanut butter-y taste.

How long can you keep overnight oats in the fridge?

Good news – you can keep them in the fridge for up to five days. So Sunday night you can meal prep breakfast for the entire week, with one snack or dessert. Or maybe you love a friend or neighbor enough to surprise them!

overnight oats chocolate peanut butter

Also note you can make these chocolate and peanut butter oats with water, almond milk (like I did), soy milk, coconut milk . . . some people even make oats with juice!

Are you ready for the recipe? This overnight oats recipe is EASY and makes quite a bit in a short time frame. It took me about five minutes to put everything together and get it all into individual mason jars.

You’re not going to regret trying this – I promise. First, here’s what you’re going to need.

chocolate peanut butter oats

Ingredients

  • 3 cups oats
  • 3 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or regular milk)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup PB2
  • ¼ c honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1/2 c mini chocolate chips

Tips and Tricks for This Recipe

You don’t have to try our recipe as-is. It’s relatively standard to start with 1:1 dried ingredients and liquid for any overnight oatmeal and go from there depending on your desired consistency.

That means for everyone one cup of oats and ingredients, you’ll add 1 cup of milk (or water, or whatever you choose).

Possible ingredients/toppings include:

  • Fresh fruit – strawberries, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries
  • Dried fruit – dried apples, apricots, cherries, shredded coconut, cranberries, figs
  • Granola, flaxseed meal or chia seeds
  • Nuts – Almonds, walnuts, pecans (use as a topping the next day if you don’t want them soggy)
  • Spices – nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa powder, pumpkin pie spice

It’s pretty fun to experiment with some different combinations and see which one is your favorite!

Try a delicious mixed berry oatmeal smoothie recipe! With a blend of frozen berries, oats, yogurt, and almond milk, it’s a healthy and tasty breakfast option. You can make it ahead if you like.

smoothie with oats

I’ve got a great breakfast recipe for you – and once you try it, it’ll be part of your normal routine.

Because that’s how delicious this healthy oatmeal smoothie is! I’m going to be honest, I don’t always have time for a big production in the morning.

This is something you can make the night before and then put in the refrigerator ’til the next morning. It’s perfect.

Why oatmeal? Well, the point of the oatmeal is to thicken the smoothie. The flavor of oats also blends with nearly every other flavor . . . milk, fruit, and more.

I love the creamy texture that the oats give to this breakfast beverage, especially with milk. I highly recommend it!

smoothie with oatmeal

Do you have to cook oatmeal before putting in smoothie?

No, and I don’t recommend it. I like whole rolled oats that aren’t cooked, and that is what adds the thickness. If you don’t like your beverage so thick, you can soak the oats in milk or water for about an hour before making the recipe.

I don’t have any particular brand that I like – basically any rolled oats are fine. However I do have a brand of gluten free oats that I like: Bob’s Red Mill. They are really good! If you want to make this recipe gluten free, Bob’s.

Mixed berries, chia seeds, yogurt, almond milk, old fashioned rolled oats, and honey

Are you ready to enjoy your new delicious breakfast recipe? Here are the simple ingredients you’re going to need:

  • 1/2 C of old fashioned rolled oats, ground to a fine powder
  • 1 T of chia seeds soaked in 2 or 3 tbsp. of water for 10 minutes
  • 1 C of mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 C of almond milk
  • 1 T of honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 3 T of Greek yogurt
  • Handful of ice

Tips and Thoughts on This Recipe

  • If you need a blender recommendation, I love my Blendtec. It’s lasted for years and years with regular use and no complaints.
  • If needed, stir in honey or maple syrup to taste. I don’t enjoy smoothies that are too sweet, but it’s easy to give it a bit more sweetness.
  • Don’t be afraid to go outside this recipe and play with ingredients. You can add a frozen banana, peanut butter, almond butter, protein powder, coconut water, or anything else you want to try.
  • See how creamy your smoothie is and if you would like it a bit more liquid, add in ice cubes and blend until you reach the desired consistency.

The recipe makes enough to fit into two mason jars – however, if you’re hungry or really like smoothies as I do, you’ll probably want to keep it all for yourself.

Are you looking for Easter breakfast ideas? Make your kids’ holiday morning special with these Easter bunny pancakes. These are easy to make – you don’t need to be a chef to do them!

Easter bunny pancakes

When I was little, my four brothers and I were all about pancakes. If it was a holiday morning or other special occasion, we always requested them.

It started being a more fun tradition when one Easter morning my mom made up these Easter bunny pancakes! If you need Easter breakfast ideas, this is so fun.

Bunny Pancake

Imagine coming out to the breakfast table and being so tickled to see a funny rabbit face on your plate!

Easter bunny pancakes became a fun tradition that my mother continues even today. And yes, I just turned 44 years old. 😮

Easter Breakfast Ideas for Kids

If you need Easter breakfast ideas for the littles, this is going to be perfect.

We started this tradition with my niece last year, and we can’t wait to do it again this year (she’s 4!). She squealed when she first saw them and thought they were hilarious.

The great thing about these bunny pancakes is that you don’t have to be a gourmet chef to do them.

It’s really just round pancakes that you’ll decorate with fruit. ANYONE can do it! Anyone can be a pancake artist for Easter morning.

PS – our pink hot chocolate recipe would be such a fun beverage to serve with these Easter pancakes!

Ingredients

For the pancakes:

  • 2 cups Bisquick
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs

Per bunny face:

  • One banana
  • 2 blueberries
  • 1/2 strawberry
  • 1 cheese single

Directions

  1. My mom always made pancakes with Bisquick so it’s the way I make them now! Heat a skillet with cooking spray and while you’re waiting, stir all the pancake ingredients until blended.
  2. For each bunny face, you’ll make three pancakes – one large around 5 inches, and two small around 1 1/2 inches in diameter. You might want to consider a pancake dispenser if you like perfection!
  3. Cook pancakes until the edges are dry. Flip and cook until golden. Remove from the grill and organize on your plate as shown on the bunny face.
  4. Peel a banana and slice about 1 inch off one end. Cut the long portion into two ears. Cut three pieces from the remaining inch. Two of the circles will be eyes. Cut the other circle in half and create the teeth.
  5. Cut a strawberry and add the nose. Add the blueberries on the eyes.
  6. Cut the cheese single into strips and make the whiskers.
  7. Serve!

How cute are these Easter bunny pancakes??

Oh! And one more thing. You can also make bunny butt pancakes. Let’s not forget those!

Bunny butt pancakes

You’ll make the same circles and organize them as shown. Melt some chocolate chips to make the pads of the feet and place six chocolate chips for the toes.

Use a scoop of butter or some frozen Cool Whip for the tail. The bunny butt pancakes are so cute too!
